THE DANDELION SCHOOL FOR MIGRANT CHILDREN (CHINA)

Dandelion School is a boarding school in Da Xing, a suburb of Beijing. It was founded in 2005 by a group of Chinese female professionals. Dandelion school is the first and only government-approved charitable, non-profit middle school in Beijing providing equal access to quality education for children in Beijing from low-income migrant families.

Dandelion School currently has a capacity of over 500 pupils. About 85% of school funding must rely on support from charities and private donors. The school has a very positive atmosphere, competent staff and produces excellent results. Classrooms and dorms were initially located in an abandoned factory building renovated for the purpose. In 2019, a new campus was established nearby, replacing the old one with a well-equipped school and boarding facilities. The design of the new campus represents an outstanding contribution by the volunteers. Every facility has a unique name chosen by its donors, and behind each name lies a beautiful story of love and growth. From the first day they arrive on campus, the school provides a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment for students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Cooperation between KCF and Dandelion includes teacher exchanges and financial support.
